‘Mafeking Road’ is a whirlwind of Herman Charles Bosman stories as you have never seen them before – 15 August to 8 September Wednesday to Saturday at 20h30
Winner of a 2011 Standard Bank Silver Ovation Award for Physical Theatre at
the National Arts Festival.
Multiple-award winner Tara Notcutt (director of …miskien, Dream, Brother, and Thom Pain), and who was recently announced as one of the Mail and Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans), presents her production Mafeking Road. It’s a whirlwind of Herman Charles Bosman stories, featuring the outrageously talented duo of Andrew Laubscher (Lovborg’s Women, Is it because I’m Jack) and Mathew Lewis (Lenny and the Wasteland). They bring you well-loved stories such as In The Withaak’s Shade, and Willem Prinsloo’s Peach Brandy in a way that they have never been seen before! On a wild ride through the Groot Marico, Oom Schalk Lourens tells his tales of a world where a horse named Bertie, a leopard with many spots, and a pretty young girl fresh from finishing school await. Presented through a mixture of the exciting physical theatre and comic book styles, this is Bosman for the next generation.
Tickets cost R95 and are R75 on Wed 22 and Thurs 23 August.

We thoroughly enjoyed the show, grinning from ear to ear throughout. The actors were brilliant, absorbing us into the four Herman Charles Bosman stories through expression and action without the aid of props. Great entertainment.
